Please complete the generic reference form. The generic reference form will require you to enter the applicant's first name, last name, and user name, which should be in the email you received from the staff applicant. If you are still having trouble, please contact us.
The reference request email you received contained a custom link to a reference form for that specific applicant. Unfortunately, some email programs display this custom link incorrectly, which can result in a broken or incorrect link to the reference form. We ask that you please complete the generic reference form for the applicant, which will require you to enter the applicants first name, last name, and user name.
We do not have a specific deadline; however, our target date is to have all positions filled by April 1st. Keep in mind that an application is incomplete until all references are in.
Our target date to have all our positions filled is April 1st.
You need to attend all-day, every day of the staff training(s) that are required for your position, including all weekend days. Staff training days are very long, just like camp. You should clear your schedules for the week(s) of staff trainings, including all evenings. The one exception is Adventure Staff training, which typically runs from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
No. The only exception is if you design a class that is taught off-site. For example, if you design a class that takes campers off of camp property to explore various aquatic areas in the High Country you will need to drive a van and have CPR and 1st Aid certifications. This is rare because almost all classes are taught on camp property. In the event that we do not have enough van drivers, we may ask Enrichment Staff Members to become van drivers, but this is also rare.
We do many off-site programs at Broadstone and lease vans from Appalachian State University; therefore we need staff who meet ASU's requirements for 15 passenger van drivers. In order to be an approved ASU van driver you must:
- Hold a current, valid driver's license for a minimum of 3 years.
- Be willing to drive 15 passenger vans
- Have a clean driving record for the past 3 years: No DWI's or multiple moving violations (speeding tickets, running stop signs/stop lights, reckless driving, following too closely, etc. Parking tickets are not moving violations.) No extreme violations (dangerous and reckless, failure to stop for school bus, etc.).
- Be approved by ASU University police.
- Complete an ASU on-line vehicles safety awareness class.
- Participate in a behind the wheel training and check out by the camp administration.
Please note: We do a thorough check of your driving record and a criminal background check. Please be up front with us pertaining to your ability to drive in accordance with these requirements.
References are not generally required for returning staff members, but may be asked for if you are applying for a leadership position.
